Setptember 2010 Eyes on the Skies Receives Prize at TechFilm 2010

Eyes on the Skies has received the International Association for Media in Science’s Award at the TechFilm 2010 Festival. Eyes on the Skies is participating in the International Science Film Festival, being the only scientific film institution in Greece, gathers all up to date and high ranking productions from all around the world for a fourth year in a row. July 2010 — Eyes on the Skies has been shortlisted for an award at Australia's Scinema 2010 festival

Eyes on the Skies, the official documentary film of the IYA's International Year of Astronomy 2009 has been shortlisted for an award at Australia's Scinema 2010 festival.

Jointly organised by the Australian Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), the Royal Institution of Australia (RiAus) and Cosmos Magazine, Scinema is a week-long celebration of science films which screens in venues across Australia. The awards recognise the best films submitted to the festival in a range of categories, and had around 400 entrants from around the world. Eyes on the Skies is a finalist in the category of "Documentaries over 25 minutes".

Lars Lindberg Christensen, the film's director, said: "We are delighted to have been shortlisted for this award. So many astronomical discoveries have been made looking at the rich skies of the southern hemisphere, so it is fitting for Eyes on the Skies to be recognised like this in Australia." The final festival programme, including screening times for Eyes on the Skies will be published on the Scinema (www.scinema.com.au) website shortly.


December 2009Eyes on the Skies wins Special Jury Award at the 2009 MEDEA Awards

The Eyes on the Skies project initiated as part of International Year of Astronomy 2009 (IYA2009) celebration now entering its final weeks has won an international accolade. After originally being selected as one of eight finalists from a field of over 254 entries from 39 countries, the Eyes on the Skies movie and book went on to receive the Special Jury Award for its high production value at the MEDEA 2009 Awards held in Berlin, Germany on 4 December.
